  • Research summary

This study aims to gather information from participants who have undergone Oberlin nerve transfer surgery. Over 150 procedures have been carried out within the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital within the last 10 years. These patients will be approached via post and requested to participate by completing a questionnaire (online and/or postal) to gain information with regards to: a) what patient’s report they are able to use their affected arm to lift, b) how they rate their affected arm (pain and general use) and c) employment status. Because all patients will be approached and requested to complete the questionnaire at their present point differing timeframes of up to 10 years post Oberlin nerve transfer will be represented.\n\nThe collated results of this study will enable clinicians to more accurately provide information with regards to patients reported functional outcomes following surgery. Therefore fulfilling both a clinical need and a gap within the evidence base.
