Research summary
The study would test the viability of using Physical Activity Monitoring (PAM), and patient reported questionnaires to assess walking in community by People with MS (PwMS) who used Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES). The study would be done on 35 participants with MS using FES for improving walking, aiming to obtain valid data from a minimum of 20 subjects. The assessment of physical activity would include wearing a lightweight monitor around the waist using an elastic band for 7 days. They would be asked to wear the PAM for 7 consecutive days when awake and remove it only during sleeping, swimming or bathing. The research team would provide telephone support during this period.
