Research summary
In one UK hospital NHS Trust, critical care rehabilitation is being trialled. Once discharged from hospital, critical care survivors are invited to participate in a six-week outpatient physiotherapy led exercise programme. Patients complete approximately forty-five minutes of exercise within a group environment, under the supervision of a physiotherapist. The effectiveness of this programme is based on walking outcome measures. However, little research has explored patient perspectives of participating in a rehabilitation programme post critical illness and how this can impact quality of life.
Therefore this research is looking to explore the patient experiences of participating in a critical care physiotherapy rehabilitation programme.REC name
