Research summary
The study will investigate a patients perception of healthcare cost in relation to orthopaedic surgery. The study will include post-operative patients attending follow up clinic appointments. The study will serve to inform the public of actual costs of procedures that they have required. We may also be able to infer which procedures patients think of as low quality. The patients perception of cost may serve as a surrogate marker to the potential benefit a patient gained - therefore a low quality procedure with little benefit would be worth less monetarily to the patient. The study will be conducted at a single centre - Bradford Teaching Hospitals. The study will be conducted over 6 months to a year - with the aim of recruiting 100 patients. The patients will be invited to take part in a survey.
