  • Research summary

Patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) help capture how patients feel about their health, including the impact of eye conditions like cataracts and keratoconus on daily life and emotional wellbeing. Cataracts, the leading cause of reversible blindness, and keratoconus, a progressive condition affecting young people, can significantly affect quality of life.

Despite their value in healthcare, PROMs are not regularly used in care. The Vision Correction Questionnaire (VCQ) is a short, digital tool that assesses both vision and emotional wellbeing.

This study aims to validate the VCQ for cataract and keratoconus patients to support more personalised patient-centered healthcare.
