Research summary
In the present study we will make use of a smartphone app designed to help children understand the importance of using emollients in the management of eczema. The app, Emollizoo covers the treatment of animals in a zoo that are sick (with eczema) and the zoo-keeper treats the animals with emollients. The aim of the study is to determine whether using the app improves children's understanding of how to manage eczema and therefore increases their own use of emollients.
With parental or carer support, we aim to collect a baseline measure of eczema disease severity for the children and ask them to complete a second measure, four weeks after using (in conjunction with a parent or carer) the smartphone app.
We will also obtain feedback from the parent/carers on the app itself, for instance to explore their views on the usefulness of the app, ease of use etc.REC name
