Research summary
The aim of our study is to explore patients’ views and preferences regarding the no-biopsy approach and whether they are willing to accept this 1 in 20 chance of a false diagnosis if it means they will avoid having an endoscopy. We will offer patients multiple choices based on current evidence to find out what patients actually prefer and the reasons behind their preferences. The findings of this study will inform future guidelines for the diagnosis of coeliac disease, which may include the option of diagnosis based on the antibody test without endoscopy and biopsy for selected patients.
