  • Research summary

Psychological health services in the UK are expert-led and diagnosis driven. Patients typically have multiple diagnoses and thus, a disorder-focused approach to intervention is challenging for therapists and services. Stigma and service rigidity most likely contribute to rates of non-attendance and dropout. Method of Levels
(MOL), an innovative transdiagnostic cognitive therapy has the potential to address these issues. The study will implement and evaluate a MOL intervention for use in secondary care services with patients who have longstanding and comorbid psychological difficulties. Quantitative and qualitative data will be collected during therapy and at 1 and 3 month follow-up, to determine how well MOL works in this setting. The goal is to improve psychological services to maximise patient participation in terms of nature and frequency of care, ultimately, to be more patient-orientated and-led.
