Research summary
How can key components of community mental health policy be optimised through implementation of the PARTNERS2 intervention? Learning about personalisation, integration and team-based supervision.
This project will explore how learning from recent research (PARTNERS2), about a new primary care based approach to care for individuals with stable psychosis, can support community mental health policy. We will share findings from the PARTNERS2 study with two NHS England systems which are part of the Community Mental Health Framework (CMHF) transformation process, and gather feedback to create guidance for better implementation.
What will we do?
We will engage with two NHS health care systems which are part of the CMHF transformation process to learn together about how findings from PARTNERS2 can be put into practice. We will provide written manuals, training and supervision for practitioners. We will collect information to explore what works well and less well as they adopt and adapt PARTNERS2 to their locality. Specifically, we aim to:
• Research how key components of PARTNERS2 can be implemented: a) coaching approaches b) joining up care and c) supervision.
• Create guidance to support implementation by:
* Holding workshops in each system with key stakeholders to understand their local mental health care systems and discuss how PARTNERS2 findings can be used;
* Training and supporting up to sixteen practitioners (Care Partners) and up to four supervisors in coaching approaches. Conducting interviews and digitally recording and/or observing practice and supervision sessions.
* Using data collected to produce case studies that explore what happens including successes or difficulties.
* Involving the PARTNERS2 service user advisory group to advise and assist with dissemination including blogs, events, and a policy paper.
Final outputs include a peer reviewed publication, infographic, tweets, and zoom workshops with other NHS England sites.REC name
