Research summary
Despite growing research into the effects of postnatal psychosis on mothers, there is a still a paucity of information regarding its impact on partners and particularly the impact on their personal relationships. It is recognised that there is a need to view the mothers and their babies as more than a dyadic relationship, and instead include the partner as part of a triadic relationship. This study therefore aims to explore how postnatal psychosis affects partners’ relationships with mother and baby. It will be conducted using a grounded theory qualitative design.
