Research summary
The World Health Organisation (WHO) is responsible for a document called the International Classification of Diseases, usually abbreviated to ICD10, where the 10 refers to the tenth edition. This document defines all illnesses and disorders. It is designed to ensure that diagnoses are consistent across the world. ICD10 is being revised to produce the next edition, ICD11 and for the first time, service user and carer views are being sought on two categories: depressive episode and schizophrenia.
This study will ask a number of people who have used psychiatric services as well as carers what they think of the proposed language for these two diagnoses and the results will be used to help inform the WHO as they produce the new edition.REC name
