Research summary
Food offered in hospital shops and outlets should help patients and visitors choose a healthier lifestyle and should act as a role model for food in the local community. The aim of this study is to explore the perceived needs of families regarding the types of food and drink that are offered for sale in a hospital in the North East of England. Parents will be invited to participate in an interview in order to share their views of the food and drink available for sale to their family, either when their child is admitted as an inpatient or when visiting outpatient departments. Information collected will inform hospital healthy eating policies.
