Research summary
Parents are key to seeking help for symptoms experienced by their teenage children, for example, by taking them to the doctor. Many young people treated for cancer suffer from symptoms like fatigue and/or pain. These symptoms may cause distress, and they also may be more vulnerable to developing mood difficulties. There is a lack of research into these symptoms. This study is aiming to understand more about how parents/carers experience fatigue, pain and distress in teenagers who have, or have had, cancer, and what they do to help.
