Research summary
PedsQLTM (version 4.0)is a questionnaire that uses a modular measurement model to measure health related quality of life in healthy children and adolescents and also those with chronic and acute health conditions. It is a practical and multidimensional model that has been reliably validated by a number of studies across a number of specialties.\n\nMethods:\nI want to use both the Child self report and the Parent proxy report from version 4.0 of the PedsQL questionnaire to see if there is a good correlation between patient and parental perceptions of levels of function due to chronic pain. These kind of studies have been done before in other specialties like epilepsy. \nI plan to give questionnaires to every patient (between the ages of 8-12) and parent/carer attending our clinic over a 3 month period initially. They would fill these in separately. I would hope to get a statistically significant number of patients over this period. My exclusion criterion would be only for my patients that cannot physically fill in the forms or that are out with the ages of 8-12 as specified by the PedsQL model.\n
