Data collection arrangements
The study will use routinely collected parameters from history, pedigree analysis, physical examination, blood tests, electrocardiogram, ambulatory ECG recording, exercise testing, echocardiography, cardiac magnetic resonance. The data will be collected from electronic medical records. The database will also collect data from clinical genetic testing or from previous research projects. No additional investigations will be carried out for the study. The data will be anonymised.
Research programme
Study aims: 1) Development of an improved risk stratification for sudden cardiac death. 2) Novel genotype-phenotype correlations in relation to risk of sudden death and advanced heart failure. Expected value of results: This project will provide new insights in the natural history of cardiomyopathies and provide important prognostic information that can be used in day to day clinical practice. It will improve identification of patients at risk of developing sudden cardiac death and advanced heart failure. This will lead to alterations in how these patients are managed.
