  • Research summary

This project comprises two parts in reviewing the performance of dual mobility total hip arthroplasty.
The first will review the use of dual mobility total hip arthroplasty in displaced intracapsular femoral fracture. The study is designed to be a longitudinal cohort study of the outcomes for dual mobility total hip arthroplasty in patients who have sustained a displaced intracapsular femoral fracture. We have used Dual mobility implants in this group since 2013. We will review dislocation rate as the primary outcome, with secondary outcomes being oxford hip scores, length of stay, operative time, return to theatre rate and mortality rates. We will compare this to Literature findings for post operative dislocation rates in total hip arthroplasty for displaced intracapsular femoral fractures.

The second part is to review the outcomes for the Zimmer ADES dual mobility total hip arthroplasty for all indications. It will involve identifying patient who have had an ADES dual mobility total hip arthroplasty for any indication and reviewing the outcomes for patients. This will produce a Kaplan-meier survival analysis overall and for each indication. The primary outcomes are failure for any reason.
