Research summary
Purposive sampling will be used in order to select 6 participants from the all-male rehabilitation ward of a low security forensic inpatient unit, on the basis that they meet the inclusion criteria, which will include having expressed an interest in work. Once the participants have provided informed consent, one to one semi-structured interviews will be carried out with the chosen participants. In conjunction with semi-structured interviews, Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis will be used in order to explore the patient’s experiences and views on the value of Occupational Therapy groups in preparing them to be ‘work-ready’ and the resulting implications for future practice.
