Research summary
This research is designed to assess the impact of osteopathy on physical and psychological pain. Several questionnaires (adapted into one questionnaire)will be used to assess reductions in physical pain as well as the psychological impact (e.g., depression and anxiety).
A quantitative analysis (ANOVA) will be used to assess whether there will be reductions in pain, anxiety, depression as recorded by the measures employed.
The measures used will be General Health Questionnaire (GHQ), Hospital Anxiety and depression score (HADS), McGill’s pain questionnaire (short version). European Quality of Life-5 Dimensions (EQ5D). Fear Avoidance Beliefs Questionnaire (FABQ). The analysis will involve a series of one way ANOVA’s to determine whether there was any reduction in pain from base to end points.
The results will aim to demonstrate, whether osteopathy is a useful treatment for pain.REC name
