  • Data collection arrangements

Samples and anonymised data will be stored at the Jeffery Cheah Biomedical Centre on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, Cambridge, UK. Only tissues that have been removed for clinical reasons and are surplus to requirements will be obtained by Avatrial. Only existing tissue and anonymised data will be received from accredited tissue banks and suppliers, where there is informed consent for the use of the surplus material and data for research. Tissues will therefore be received from existing tissue banks and there will be no additional procedures performed on patients, nor any new samples taken.

  • Research programme

The primary focus of the Avatrial tissue bank is to enable the testing of the safety and effectiveness of anti-cancer drugs. The cancers under investigation will include (but not limited to) bowel, liver, pancreas, lung and breast. The research will be performed by Avatrial, as well as by university, NHS and commercial research organisation.
