Research summary
This study considers the effect an attachable device and associated smartphone application (Brushlink™ system) on oral hygiene over a 4- week period from an initial assessment. Improvement in oral hygiene can lead to improvements in oral health and wider general health (such as diabetes and heart disease). This study will be conducted in general dental practice setting on adults. We will be assessing the level of plaque/ bacteria build up on teeth before and after (at 2 and 4 weeks) using a scoring system. An additional aim of the study is to assess how the Brushlink™ system affects brushing compliance, experience and motivation as determined by patient self-assessment questionnaire. This will be completed by a specialist dentist and general dentist in a practice setting.
