Research Summary:
Alternative methods to pharmacological stress cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) are required for diagnostic and prognostic information in patients with suspected and established heart failure. Exercise CMR (Ex-CMR) offers an alternative to pharmacological stress CMR, better replicating the neurohormonal and haemodynamic changes associated with physical exercise. Reproducible Ex-CMR protocols need to be developed in specific clinical cardiovascular populations. In this study we will develop reproducible Ex-CMR protocols in patients with established heart failure and preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) and those at risk of or with early HFpEF.Summary of Results;
