Research summary
The aim of this study is to develop new and better methods for diagnosis and monitoring of human disease using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and spectroscopy (MRS). In order to do this, we need to test and optimise new ways of using the MRI scanner. This is sometimes difficult to do with healthy volunteers as the research MRI scanning steps can only be evaluated properly when they are used to produce images of real patients. We would like to be able to include new research scanning steps into routine clinical MRI examinations with the patient's consent. This will help us to decide whether a new technique is likely to benefit patients and worth further development.
