Research summary
Liquid local anaesthetic (LA) is given around the eye to provide pain relief during cataract removal. The eye socket fills up with the LA which can increase the pressure in the eyeball. This transient pressure rise is known to occur. Aims of the study are to quantify the pressure increase and to assess if there is an association with the volume of LA given.
