Research summary
Paediatric thyroid eye disease (TED) is rare, sight threatening condition, which alters facial appearance & occurs in children. To our knowledge, there are limited large-scale studies examining TED in children in the UK population and therefore lack of consensus on the screening and management of these children. Through the national reach of BOSU, we hope to gather data on current incidence, clinical features and common practices in the UK of this rare condition. The study will be conducted via electronic questionnaires with a recruitment period over 12 months and a minimum follow-up dataset of 12 months per case. The results of our study will be disseminated via international conferences and peer-review journals, with the hope of providing a unique baseline to the UK paediatric thyroid eye disease literature and improving the management of these children in the future.
