Research summary
Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) is a genetic condition resulting from a mutation in the genes involved in collagen formation. Collagen is present in many of the body’s systems including bones, teeth, eyes and joints, and some or all these systems can all be affected in OI.\nOral Health Related Quality of life is an important part of general health care, and there is currently no literature about the oral health-related quality of life of patients suffering from OI. This oversight is what we hope to address in this study. \nA questionnaire based research study will identify the oral health-related quality of life of children and young adults in order to help us understand their specific treatment needs, and tailor our management accordingly.
