• Research summary

  Longitudinal observational study of four participant groups:

  – Group 1: Patients attending the Imperial Weight Centre who are planning to have metabolic surgery (Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass, Sleeve Gastrectomy, Mini Gastric Bypass). 30 participants with diabetes and 30 without diabetes per surgical type will be recruited.
  – Group 2: Patients attending the Imperial Weight Centre or Outpatient Diabetes/Obesity Clinics within Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust who are starting a Low-Calorie Diet. 60 participants will be recruited (30 with and 30 without diabetes).
  – Group 3: Patients attending the Imperial Weight Centre or Outpatient Diabetes/Obesity Clinics within Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust who are starting GLP-1 analogue therapy. 60 participants will be recruited (30 with and 30 without diabetes).
  – Group 4: Patients attending the Specialist NAFLD Clinics within Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust who are starting GLP-1 analogue therapy. 60 participants will be recruited (30 with NAFLD and 30 with NASH/cirrhosis).
