Research summary
The study will investigate the level of nutritional knowledge of clinical staff working with service users suffering Anorexia Nervosa in an inpatient setting as well as the nutritional knowledge of the service users. Nutritional advice is an important part of care delivery for this client group. Nutritional knowledge of clinical staff in this and wider mental health settings has not been widely studied. It is important to establish the level of knowledge with this staff group and compare it not only with the clients, but also with other populations in other studies, in order to identify any potential further learning needs for clinicians. All clinical staff and service users of a large NHS adult inpatient eating disorder service will be eligible. Eligible participants will be invited to complete a self-report e-questionnaire (a paper version will also be available). The questionnaire has been identified in the literature as a reliable validated tool for assessing general nutritional knowledge in adults. The study will be open for a period of eight weeks.
