Research summary
Insomnia is relatively common in patients with advanced cancer, although there is little data on the prevalence of other
sleep disorders in this group of patients (e.g. vivid dreams, nightmares and sleep/night terrors).
This is a multicentre,
prospective observational study to specifically investigate vivid dreams, nightmares and
sleep/night terrors in patients with advanced cancer. It is hoped that a better understanding of their epidemiology,
aetiology and clinical features will lead to more appropriate (less anecdotal) management of these phenomena.REC name
