Data collection arrangements
Anonymised information regarding the following will be collected.
Demographics (age, ethnicity, gender)• Past medical history of: diabetes, heart failure, blood vessel disease, previous strokes
•Dialysis related data: type of dialysis, duration on dialysis, type of vascular access (method by which blood travels from patient to machine and back), date access created, access intervention dates and outcomes.
• Blood results: haemoglobin, calcium, phosphate, parathyroid hormone level, glucose, HbA1c, albumin, creatinine, eGFR, albumin/creatinine ratio, CRP, ESR, LDL, HDL)
•Blood vessel Ultrasound scan results: vessel size, arterial flow rate
The data will be stored on a password protected excel spreadsheet on a secure Belfast Trust Server linked to the Trust IT backup systems.
Research programme
This database will support research into improving survival in individuals treated with hemodialysis.
