Data collection arrangements
Data is not collected specifically for this work it is extracted from patient records that have been generated as part of their care. All local care record data on all patients who have interacted with the health and social care system over the last 20+ years will be brought into the Lancashire and South Cumbria (LSC) Secure Data Environment (SDE). All data collected or generated as part of routine care as part of the health and care systems is selected. This includes structured data, vital signs, lab tests, medication data, unstructured data such as clinic letters discharge summaries, imaging data such as CT scans and signal data such as ECG/EEGs. The dataset will grow over time as more routine clinical data is generated.
Research programme
The overarching purpose for data sharing is to support the Lancashire and South Cumbria use of Secure Data Environments (SDEs), which are secure project specific workspaces researchers to access de-identified sensitive data sets, and enables them to do data driven research, utilising the knowledge, techniques, and experience of academics to improve health. It will give researchers access to the information, which is necessary, proportionate, and relevant to their role.
