Data collection arrangements
Routinely collected patient data (demographics, blood test results, pysiological measurements etc.) will be extracted from existing electronic patient records (e.g the Draeger Innovian system, the EPIC EPR and the Dendrite clinical database).
Additional data for variables that are currently monitored but not routinely stored (e.g. ECG and pressure waveform traces) is collected and saved using the Trust's own data processing infrastructure. Non-routinely collected data is
collected using a suite of monitoring equipment.Research programme
The database has already supported 2 PhD theses and an MD thesis at the Univeristy of Manchester as well as over 20 orginal science manuscripts in the field of cardiothoracic surgery since the addition of cardiothoracic surgery data. Data is available for release to external researchers via the formal data release request protocol contained within this application.
