• Data collection arrangements

  All patients diagnosed with lung cancer in North Glasgow. Currently have complete data on 2493 patients from 20092012 stored in an excel spreadsheet. Data includes CHI number, name, date of birth, postcode, date of diagnosis, investigations performed, pathological diagnosis, staging of cancer, date of death and treatment. The demographics data are collected for the national lung cancer audit and local lung cancer audit purposes. Additional fields have been added from electronic records.

• Research programme

  The majority of work will be assessing quality of care and audit of current practice. Additional work will be undertaken when the project is added to the safehaven will allow association with other healthcare databases e.g. scistore and GP data. We will potentially be able to ask valid research questions to test hypotheses and perform preliminary pilot studies prior to applying for ethics for prospective work.
