Research summary
This is a qualitative study of motor neurone disease (MND) patients (and carers) who have been offered/or on home ventilation in terms of their experience of discussions regarding non-invasive ventilation prior to starting it and a semi-structured interview of them and their carers to ascertain the impact of NIV upon each's QoL. This qualitative research project will involve meeting some of the patients, and their carers, in clinic at Seacroft hospital (Leeds), in order to interview them for an assessment of QoL, their experience of NIV and current usage. We will be interviewing 10-15 individuals and will also be using questionnaires to gain information about information regarding their experience with NIV.
