Research summary
Atrial fibrillation is the most common arrhythmia but can be treated by a catheter procedure where specialized wires are inserted in the left upper heart chamber. We developed a method to do this procedure without the need to use any harmful x-rays to visualise the catheters (typically 10 – 25 min). We will use a specialized needle that this is also shown as a little icon on the computer system (CARTO) that we routinely use to see all catheters in the heart. We seek to demonstrate that these procedures can be carried out safely and successfully without any prolongation of the procedure duration and compare the results with historic procedures done by the same operator in the years 2012-2017.
