Data collection arrangements
The locations are all within the NHSBT building in Cambridge. The samples are kept in monitored temperature-controlled facilities with back-up generators and security - controlled access.
Details of the precise locations of freezers are informed to the HTA license holder. The patient identifiable information and the sample data are stored in a standalone database, with a back-up system, none of which are accessible on a network or server. The database and back up are in a secure-access room within the NHSBT and access rights are also needed to enter the building.
Research programme
The research programme is part of the NHSBT/University of Cambridge wider programme of research into alloimmunisation and antibodies against blood components. The research programme is a vital part of the goal of NHSBT to improve care delivered to recipients of human blood, tissues and organs and is supported through internal and external funding initiatives.
