Research summary
Visual performance is conventionally measured using visual acuity charts with high contrast and there is no restriction in how long it takes for an individual to correctly identify the letters on the chart. Individuals may perform relatively well
with these charts however, this does not necessarily reflect how they will perform in the real world. OCULAR TECHNOLOGY GROUP – International (OTGi) has developed a computer based letter charts system that allows the measurement of visual performance under different conditions of contrast and lighting level while also controlling the
time that the letter targets can be viewed for. The OTG-i Vision system has been developed to better represent the visual demands of today’s device dominated world. The purpose of this study is to compare the near vision measurements taken with the OTG-i Vision system against those taken with a conventional near visual acuity ETDRS chart that is frequently used.REC name
