• Data collection arrangements

  Potential donors will be approached to see if they are willing to donate, or provide access to, human tissue samples and clinical data for use in biomedical research. Samples will normally be obtained at routine clinical appointments and will be surplus to diagnostic or other clinical purposes. Some minimally invasive additional samples may also be requested (e.g. blood, urine, mouth swabs). Samples will be held in secure facilities at Salford Royal Hospital or with appropriate affiliated organisations.

• Research programme

  The samples and/or data will be accessed following formal application to an access committee by interested researchers. Applications will be considered to ensure that they represent appropriate use of the samples, in line with the obtained consent, for carefully designed and scientifically important studies across virtually any field of biomedical research. Applications may be made for academic or commercial research from within or outside of the UK.
