Research summary
Namaste Care shows potential for responding to the needs of people living with advanced dementia and other life limiting conditions, and yet access to Namaste Care is unequal and sporadic across the UK and abroad. This ethics application applies to an initial phase of consultation and community engagement to inform the appropriate approach and design of a future phase of research which will explore the effectiveness of Namaste Care (a separate ethics application will be made for this in due course. The consultation will involve focus groups, individual interviews or an online survey option to gather opinions on relevant measures and methods.
This consultation will aim to develop a supportive framework to engage with people in later phases of the research who may not be able to give informed consent. Ethical principles will be central to the study: honesty, objectivity, integrity, carefulness, openness and transparency, accountability, confidentiality, beneficence and non-maleficence, social responsibility, upholding respect and dignity for study participants at all stages of the study.
