Research summary
The proposed trial is the Nail bed Injury National Joint Analysis (NINJA-P) Study and this seeks to answer the question “should the nail plate be replaced or discarded after nail bed repair in children?”, using post-operative complications, appearance of the nail and pain as the primary outcome measures. There are two arms to the study, with patients either receiving nail plate replacement surgery after nail bed repair or having the nail bed discarded. This is a pilot study so also aims to assess how feasible it would be to run a full study in the NHS. Therefore, other outcomes will also be assessed.
