Research summary
The purpose of this study is to assess the feasibility of recruiting women and to explore womens’ experiences of receiving a mobile phone-based intervention which aims to reduce unplanned pregnancy.
We have developed a mobile-phone based intervention which aims to reduce unplanned pregnancy by reducing unwanted sex; increasing correct consistent use of effective contraception; increasing communication with ongoing partners about fertility intentions; increasing condom use (if effective contraception is not used/ for dual protection), and using emergency contraception, if unprotected sex occurs.
We will recruit 50 women from pharmacies, clinics and social media adverts. Fifty participants aged 16-24 at risk of unplanned pregnancy will be receive our mobile phone messaging IDI. After receipt of the intervention, participants will be followed up for in-depth one-to-one phone interviews to explore their experience of receiving the messages.REC name
