Research summary
myBBM study is a longitudinal observational study which aims to investigate the effect of maternal obesity and Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) on brain development in the offspring employing state-of-the-art imaging techniques. Equipped with ultra-precise magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technologies, we hope to show if higher incidence of neurodevelopmental disorders in the offspring are related to antenatal factors or more likely explained by postpartum events such as birth related events. The opportunity to measure placental function in pregnancy will allow us to explore its role in offspring brain development.
