Research summary
Presbyopia is s a condition associated with aging in which the eye exhibits a progressively diminished ability to focus on near objects. When correcting presbyopia with contact lenses, multifocal designs are used to correct vision at far, intermediate and near distances. Optimal multifocal contact lens designs may be different for early and more advanced presbyopes and in order to predict the clinical performance that will be achieved with these lens designs it is essential to measure both visual performance under representative conditions and to quantify visual acceptance when these lenses are worn while conducting daily activities in groups of early, intermediate and advanced presbyopes. The purpose of this study is to measure the overall visual satisfaction and visual performance achieved with a a combination of two multifocal contact lens types when worn as a pair and to compare this to another multifocal contact lens that is generally well accepted by the presbyopic population.
