Research summary
The overreaching aim of this research initiative is to study how improved individual prognostic evaluation of patients with technically resectable CRLM may improve allocation to surgical treatment compared to current standard of care.
The predictive clinical impact of various factors may be substantially different when comparing liver resection and liver transplantation as therapeutic options. This can therefore be utilised to develop robust treatment allocation criteria for
surgical treatment of CRLM.The primary hypothesis of the project is therefore:
• Patients with resectable colorectal liver metastases can be prognostically classified in a scoring system based on pre-operative clinical and radiological parameters to identify a subgroup of patients that will have a clinically relevant
benefit if treated by liver transplantation compared to liver resection.
Specifically, the following sub hypotheses will be tested: • Radiomic analysis of pre-operative PET-CT can identify patients with high and low predictive postoperative overall survival in patients transplanted or resected for CRLM.REC name
