Research summary
Part of optimising patient experience and quality of care is developing new MRI protocols and testing image quality. To do this efficiently the MR sequences need to be tested on healthy volunteers prior to being included in a clinical protocol. Any MR Imaging or MR Spectroscopy technique could be included in this study e.g. structural, dynamic, diffusion, perfusion or functional MRI. An example would be the set-up of pre-surgical planning with functional MRI (fMRI) and Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI). All scans are non-invasive and involve a healthy volunteer lying in the scanner for up to an hour. Some scans may involve participation such as finger-tapping or looking at words and pictures.
