Research summary
The purpose of this research is to improve how we image the body and brain using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanners. This will ultimately help us to find new ways to identify and treat illnesses.
The study is open to healthy volunteers and we will be investigating how to improve MRI for both brain and heart scanning. This will be conducted at a clinical research MRI facility on the Hammersmith Hospital campus. The study will last for 5 years. Participants will undergo up to 5 MRI scans each with the aim of assessing new techniques for improving image quality and obtaining more accurate information about how the body functions. This will be done by researchers with expertise in physics and radiology. Participants may also be asked to perform simple tasks while in the scanner such as gentle exercise or looking at images.
