Research summary
A retrospective NIS based on the secondary use of patient-level data obtained from the Hospital Episode Statistics (HES) database in order to describe all-cause mortality and healthcare resource utilization in patients treated with MitraClip compared with patients treated with standard medical therapy.
Patients previously considered for MitraClip at the Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Trust during 2015 to 2017 will be anonymously and securely identified in the HES database by NHS digital using information previously collected via the Commissioning through Evaluation programme.
