Research summary
This study will involve the recruitment of 30 patients with asthma who attend the respiratory clinic at Aberfoyle Medical Practice, Londonderry. Patients with asthma administrate their medication through a medical device known as a Spacer on the end of their inhaler. This study will involve attaching an electronic monitoring device to the spacer. The electronic device will measure how much of the medication is inhaled and how long it takes for inhalation.
The device is registered on to an Android app where the user and SmartAIR Medical Ltd. can monitor the medication intake. The use of this new monitor could help the patient to adapt their method of using an inhaler so they receive the correct dosage, and could help them manage their asthma better.REC name
