GlaxoSmithKline wishes to acquire blood, synovial fluid, tear, sebum and saliva samples from patients with inflammatory arthritis and autoimmune connective tissue diseases to facilitate research into these inflammatory disorders. This research will improve understanding of the causes of these diseases and potentially enable the development of novel anti-inflammatory therapies to address the unmet needs of patients. This Connective Tissue Disease Research biobank will utilise additional material taken during normal routine clinics and will normally include blood, synovial fluid , saliva, sebum and tear samples using procedures which involve minimal risk or discomfort.
