Research summary
This study follows on from a previous study which used questionnaires to assess patients use and acceptance of technology. The previous study confirmed that there are considerable numbers of patients in the age groups at risk of macular degeneration who are comfortable engaging with technology to aid in healthcare and that number is likely to rise.
In this study we aim to assess the accuracy of a pilot mobile, computerised nutritional assessment application which allows patients to report detailed food intake, subsequently estimating their baseline nutritional intake with regard to level of relevant micronutrients important to macular degeneration - this data should ultimately help patients prevent macular degeneration, by allowing for clinicians to advise them more confidently on any patient supplements or dietary change that is required.REC name
