  • Research summary

Electrical stimulation of the nerves in the spinal cord is a standard treatment for chronic pain. This treatment is commonly known as spinal cord stimulation (SCS), a treatment for which the patients have already been selected. In this study we want to examine the electrical signals in the nerves and how these signals change under varying frequencies.

The study will start after the patient signed the informed consent form and will take place during the first stage (test stage) of the SCS treatment. Participation in the study will last for up to 2 weeks and requires no extra visits to hospital. During the study we will connect the externalized wires to a recording device that will take measurements from the spinal cord at varying frequencies at 2 occasions. The frequencies that we will use are within the boundaries as normally used in the treatment of chronic pain.
